I've been down this road before...

That's the blog that chronicled my experience producing a 3-week run of a theatre show for ZERO dollars. I pulled it off, and the show was good. Sold out so many shows...
Now, I'm attempting to pull it off for my feature film directorial debut The Market.
Here's why I believe it can be done:
1. We are accessing ACTRA's co-op agreement. Many agreements now exist that allow professional actors to be equal partners in a profit share. You essentially trade up front costs for a large return of the back end. With this model, the potential income is actually HIGHER for actors...
2. The technology is so accessible now. The indy filmmaking world gets easier and easier every year. Cameras get better, cheaper, smaller, less intrusive. It's not too difficult to find a DOP with his own camera - or a friend who managed to buy his own.
3. We have very few locations (maybe 6 - 8 total), and everything is shot with interiors. While we do have a few tricky locations to find (strip joint, corporate office), I believe we can do this with personal connections and creativity...
There are many problems that are going to come up. I've been through this before. But if we stay together and stay creative, we can make this happen. And then we're one step closer to changing the world...
